Description

The Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification Program is a comprehensive training course designed to prepare students for compassionate, professional, and skilled caregiving within home care, healthcare, and community support settings. A Home Health Aide is a trained healthcare support professional who assists individuals with personal care, daily living activities, emotional support, safety monitoring, and basic non-medical care services within the comfort of a client’s home or residential care environment. Home Health Aides play a vital role in helping seniors, individuals with disabilities, those recovering from illness, and clients with chronic conditions maintain dignity, independence, comfort, and quality of life.

This program provides students with 75 hours of structured training designed to equip them with the foundational knowledge and practical caregiving skills necessary to work effectively within the home healthcare field. Training will be provided through  The Shepherd’s Compass Home Care Agency and integrates classroom instruction, hands-on learning experiences, caregiver skill development, and practical training applications designed to prepare students for real-world caregiving environments.

Students will receive education in areas such as personal care assistance, activities of daily living (ADLs), infection control, communication skills, client safety, mobility assistance, nutrition support, dementia awareness, companionship care, professionalism, documentation basics, emotional support, and maintaining respectful and person-centered care practices. Participants will also gain understanding of caregiver ethics, boundaries, cultural sensitivity, home safety practices, and the importance of compassion, patience, and integrity within caregiving relationships.

The program includes hands-on training opportunities that allow students to practice caregiving techniques, develop confidence in patient interaction, and apply learned skills in supportive care settings associated with the home care environment. Students will be guided by experienced instructors and introduced to the expectations and responsibilities commonly associated with professional caregiving roles.

Upon completion of the training curriculum, students will complete a final examination and skills evaluation process designed to assess competency and readiness for caregiving support roles. Students who successfully complete the program requirements will receive certification acknowledging completion of the Home Health Aide training program.

This course is ideal for individuals seeking entry into the healthcare and home care industry, aspiring caregivers, ministry outreach workers, compassionate helpers, and those desiring to build meaningful careers centered around serving others. The program is designed to help students develop the practical skills, professionalism, confidence, and compassionate care approach needed to support clients and families within home care and community-based healthcare environments.
